Conflicts can arise in any setting. How we address and manage these conflicts impacts team morale, productivity, and success. Managing disagreements can be hard and overwhelming. Reason being people experience them differently. For some, conflict may take the form of a disagreement in values. But for others, it could be more centered on communication differences.
That said, be sure to use good communication skills. Applying open and honest communication will create common ground that leads to understanding.
•Use a mediator to help with discussions. This approach will bridge the gaps between those who have conflict.
•Work together to solve problems. Collaboration on solutions creates ownership and commitment to resolving conflicts.
•And apply empathy. Empathy helps team members feel supported, heard, and valued.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to handling conflict. That said, all conflict management strategies are needed. Consider using the content above when working through your next disagreement.
While participation is optional, our goal is to provide just the right amount of education so supervisors can meet their LDR goals, and all team members can meet their individual educational goals.
