Welcome to 2024! The learning framework is rebranded to celebrate a new year, with a modern look, new topics, and the same great content. The annual theme is Everyday Leadership.

Team dynamics are important for ensuring everyone in a department works well together. Good team dynamics can improve work relationships, increase everyone's effort, and bring in lots of fresh ideas. Better Up has identified nine factors that can create good team dynamics.

  • Team culture: It's important to have a culture that allows people to be open, feel like they belong, and be psychologically safe. Team culture can be used to create team chemistry.
  • Inclusive Leadership: Leaders should value others' opinions and be open to approaches that incorporate team perspectives and ideas. This leads to greater team performance, engagement, and innovation.
  • Goal Sharing: Team members should know the department's goals. Sharing goals will ensure that each team member is informed of expected outcomes.
  • Trust: A trustworthy work environment creates synergy among teammates. This synergy will help create a more connected workforce ready to accomplish great things.
  • Decision-Making: Making good group decisions is important to obtaining team success. Good group decision-making skills will ensure that the best course of action is applied.
  • Teamwork: Good teamwork creates stronger collaboration efforts. Taking advantage of teamwork opportunities can create positive work results.
  • Communication: Communication plays a big role in team success. Good communication practices encourage collaboration, teamwork, and goal attainment.
  • Conflict Resolution: People often disagree in the workplace. But, having good resolution strategies will ensure that the team avoids issues.
  • Groupthink: The factors above are listed as enhancing team dynamics, but groupthink does the opposite. Make sure team members are comfortable not following the group norm.

As you can see, good team dynamics can positively affect your team members and work areas. Consider applying the factors above to ensure team success well into the future.
