May is all about developing and strengthening our critical thinking skills. Assessing the information around us and efficiently completing tasks often requires some complex problem solving. Making wise decisions, resolving issues, and navigating issues as they arise, especially in today's fast-paced environment, necessitates the use of critical thinking and reflection in our daily lives. To make educated decisions, it means asking detailed questions, carefully studying the available data to make informed decisions, and taking into account many viewpoints.

We can take critical thinking a step further by practicing reflection, or pausing and assessing one's own experiences, thoughts, and behaviors. Consider what went well, what can be improved, and who can we bring in to make the process more efficient.

The ability to reflect and think critically is important for success across all agencies, and impacts our own personal and professional growth. Becoming skilled in critical thinking and reflection can help team members be better team players, communicators, and problem solvers.

The 2023 Learning Framework’s theme is “Fostering a Sense of Belonging through Learning.” You will find curated content each month focused on a designated outcome with ties to belonging. Each month will feature a new topic related to Quarterly Pulse Survey outcomes and features content from The Missouri Way Training Series, MO Learning, and many external resources. The Learning Framework was created to save time researching development opportunities on your own and provide common learning opportunities for all team members. Now, you have more time to focus on your day-to-day work. Use this monthly guide to help you reach your professional goals throughout the year!

Don’t forget – we offer monthly live training opportunities as part of the Learning Framework. Reserve your spot today by registering here.
